FAQ

Quick answers about how we make and ship Ziane Brazil. If your question isn't here, write us at contactus@zianebrazil.com.

Where is Ziane Brazil based and where do you ship from?

Ziane Brazil is a Denver-based American small business, founded by a Brazilian-American couple. Every piece is made-to-order through a network of print-on-demand partners across the United States your order is printed by the partner facility closest to you and ships from there, which keeps delivery fast and our footprint small. We ship to all 50 states and internationally. Nothing sits in a warehouse waiting to be bought.

How long does a made-to-order shirt take to arrive?

Standard US orders ship within 3 to 5 business days of being placed, then arrive 2 to 5 business days after that. Total: about 1 to 2 weeks from order to doorstep. International orders take 2 to 4 weeks. We don't pre-print inventory. Your shirt is printed for you after you order, which is why it takes a few days before it ships.

What sizes do you offer and how does the fit run?

Most Ziane Brazil tees come in XS through 5XL in a unisex relaxed fit. The cotton is pre-shrunk, but we still recommend washing cold to keep the print sharp. If you usually wear a women's medium, our small fits like a relaxed tee. Size up one for an oversized look. Each product page shows the exact measurements for that style.

Will the print fade or peel after washing?

Our prints are designed to last through hundreds of washes when cared for properly. Customers consistently report no shrinkage or fading after the first wash on cold. Wash inside-out on cold, tumble-dry low or hang to dry, and skip the iron directly on the print. One customer noted: "first wash on cold and no shrinkage." That's our standard.

What does "Ziane Brazil" mean and what makes the brand Brazilian-American?

Ziane Brazil is a Brazilian-American apparel brand named after cofounder Ziane', a Brazilian woman from the northeast of Brasil. We design for people who live between two cultures: Brazilians abroad, mixed families, long-distance couples, and the Americans who love them. Our pieces carry Portuguese phrases like saudade (longing for what you love), vovó (grandma), and futebol. The language and symbols of Brazil, made for people building a life in the United States.

What is saudade?

Saudade is the Portuguese word for missing something so deeply it becomes part of who you are. It has no exact translation in English. Closer to "longing" than "nostalgia," but more tender than either. Saudade is the feeling at the center of Ziane Brazil's brand: missing Brasil, missing family, missing the way Vovó made cafezinho. Every piece we make is, in some way, designed for saudade.

Do you offer custom or personalized orders?

Yes, we accept custom and personalized orders for many of our products. Some items have personalization built into the product page (a name field, a date, a city). For larger custom requests like bulk family orders, wedding gifts, and special occasions, email contactus@zianebrazil.com and we'll work directly with you. We've turned around special requests in as little as a week.

What's your return and exchange policy?

Because every order is made-to-order specifically for you, we don't accept returns or exchanges for change-of-mind. If your item arrives damaged, defective, or the wrong size from what you ordered, contact us within 14 days and we'll replace it free of charge. Reach us at contactus@zianebrazil.com with a photo and your order number.

Do you ship to Brazil?

Yes, we ship to Brazil and most countries worldwide. International orders typically take 2 to 4 weeks after production. Customs fees and import taxes are the buyer's responsibility and vary by country. Brazil's import duties can be significant, so factor that into your decision. We are not able to mark international packages as gifts to reduce duties.

Are Ziane Brazil shirts good for gifts?

Yes. Most of our catalog was designed with gift-giving in mind. Pieces for Vovó, mães, papais, brothers and sisters, Brazilian-American couples, and kids each have their own collection. If you're shopping for a Brazilian-American family member or an expat missing home, the products tagged "gift for her," "gift for him," and "for vovó" are good places to start.

Why are some Portuguese words on the products and not translated?

Some Brazilian words don't have English equivalents that carry the same feeling: saudade, beijo (kiss), brigadeiro (the chocolate sweet), vovó (grandma with deep affection). Translating them flattens them. Ziane Brazil's pieces are meant to be understood by people who already know the words, or who want to learn them as part of bridging two cultures.
